The Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences of the UG excels in teaching and research in the fields of behaviour, thinking, learning and how people live together. We want to continue developing our well-founded theoretical and methodological knowledge domains: psychology, sociology, pedagogy, educational sciences and teaching methodology.
The Faculty aims for a leading position in studying and solving social issues and problems people encounter in everyday life. Our ambition is to develop and assess scientifically substantiated interventions, in consultation with social parties. We aim to develop the Faculty infrastructure for empirical research to a leading global level.
Job description
The faculty board and the psychology department at the Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences have drawn up an investment programme directed at intensifying and innovating teaching, especially in the Bachelor Psychology programme. To this end, a total of eight assistant professors with a special interest in teaching, but also with an excellent record in research are being appointed. We are currently looking for an assistant professor in the Organizational Psychology domain. The successful candidate does research in Work, Organizational, and Personnel Psychology and teaches and coordinates courses in (Organizational) Psychology, supervises Bachelor and Master students, and plays an active role in implementing new developments in the Psychology department’s teaching programme. In particular, s/he will be involved in the ongoing development of activating and intensifying teaching and learning in the Bachelor programme. The assistant professor will perform these tasks in close cooperation with other staff members, including the other 7 assistant professors who are hired in this investment programme and the Director of Education.
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who meet the following requirements:
• PhD in Organizational Psychology or related field
• a demonstrable interest in teaching and excellent teaching skills
• the possession of or the willingness to acquire a BKO (i.e. University Teaching Qualification)
• a competitive research track record commensurate with the level of appointment
• good collaboration and communication skills
• excellent academic writing and presentation skills.
Conditions of employment
The University of Groningen offers a salary depending on qualifications and work experience. For this position, the appointment will be at the Assistant Professor level. The salary is ranging from a minimum of € 3,475 to a maximum of € 4,757 gross per month (salary scale 11 of the Collective Labour Agreement of the Dutch Universities) for a full-time position, plus an 8% holiday allowance, 8.3% end-of-year bonus and participation in a pension scheme for employees. Favorable tax agreements may apply to non-Dutch applicants.
You will be appointed for a period of a maximum of four years, with an evaluation moment after one year. The position is available immediately. The candidate for this position is expected to play an active role in both teaching and research, with emphasis on teaching (60% teaching; 40% research).
